Jonathan Hsu

Hi! I’m Jonathan — a former high school math teacher turned portfolio manager, driven by a mission to expand access to education and shaping the future of learning and work.

My career began with Teach For America at the height of the pandemic, where I led students through unprecedented challenges and developed the resilience, creativity, and leadership to drive meaningful results. That experience deepened my commitment to dismantling systemic barriers and creating educational opportunity for all.

Looking to reach students beyond the classroom, I joined McGraw Hill where I led a $15M+ portfolio, overseeing strategy and execution for Economics and Geosciences portfolios, that reach over 200,000 learners annually. I drove revenue growth, shape product vision, and lead cross-functional teams — all while helping accelerate our digital transformation through innovative uses of content, data, and technology.

I am currently pursuing my Masters in Business Administration at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business where I hope to better understand how other industries tackle challenges, while exploring new opportunities for growth and development.

At the heart of my work is a belief in education as a powerful engine of equity and opportunity. I’m passionate about building solutions that unlock human potential and reimagine how we learn and work in a rapidly evolving world.

I hold a B.A. in Economics from the University of Southern California and an M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania, where I completed the Urban Teaching Residency program.

Outside of work, I am an avid runner training for an Ironman 70.3, a live music enthusiast, and always eager to explore local restaurants.
